House System
At Shire Oak Academy we have a three house system. Upon starting at the Academy, all students will be allocated to a House for whom they will earn house points through various activities both inside and outside the classroom. Each year the house with the most house points is awarded the house cup.
Darwin
Darwin house is named after the late English scientist Charles Darwin who played an important role in the discovery of the theory of evolution. His proposition that all species of life have descended from common ancestors is now widely accepted. Students in Darwin house have a strong history of success, having so far being crowned house champions most often since the house system was established in 2014. Our motto is ‘a step ahead’, a nod to the good work of Charles Darwin, one which aptly describes our culture and keeps us a step ahead of the competition.

Faraday house is named after Michael Faraday who was best known for discovering electricity in the 19th Century. Faraday competitors, under the motto 'Bright Sparks', have been extremely successful over the past 2 years winning both house championship and sports day in consecutive years. Hopefully this will continue into next year where we can tackle the new challenges that lie ahead. Here's to a successful 2020/2021!

Newton
Sir Isaac Newton was an English physicist and mathematician famous for his laws of motion and gravity and who is widely recognised as one of the most influential scientists of all time. Being a part of Newton house gives you all the opportunity to play an influential part in Academy life and the chance to showcase your talents both on and off the sports field. As a result of the full spectrum of skills and efforts from the members of Newton house, we have previously lifted both the Sports day and House Championship trophy in the same year. We are the strongest force.
